5 WSOP Tournament Tips to Reach the Final Table

In the World Series of Poker app, tournaments are fast, aggressive, and often chaotic. To win the ring, you need to adjust your strategy from standard cash game poker.

Before you buy in, make sure you have enough chips. Check our daily free chips links to top up your stack for free.

1. Patience is Key (Early Stages)

In the early levels, blinds are small. Don't risk your tournament life on Ace-Jack suited in the first 5 minutes. Let the maniacs knock each other out. Play tight, play strong hands (AA, KK, AK), and build your stack slowly.

2. Defend Your Big Blind

In the WSOP app, players raise loosely. If you are in the Big Blind and facing a small raise, you get excellent odds to call with a wide range of hands. See a flop! You might hit two pair or a hidden straight.

3. Aggression on the Bubble

The "Bubble" is when you are one spot away from the money. Most players tighten up because they want to cash. This is your time to attack. Steal blinds, raise with mediocre hands, and exploit their fear.

4. Understanding Hand Strength

In online play, "Top Pair" is good, but it's not the nuts. With many players seeing every flop, be wary of check-raises and big bets on the river. Trips and Flushes are common. Don't fall in love with Pocket Aces on a 6-7-8-9 board.

5. Bankroll Management

Don't enter a tournament that costs 50% of your chips! A good rule of thumb is to have at least 20 buy-ins for the level you are playing. If a tournament costs 1M chips, you should have 20M in your bank. This prevents you from going broke on a bad beat.
